The Scheme

The redevelopment scheme includes

  • A Morrisons superstore of 83,000 sq ft (7,711 sq m)

  • New retail units totalling 12,346 sq ft (1,147 sq m)

  • A community building to include a new library, with total floorspace 12,281 sq ft (1,141 sq m)

  • A petrol filling station

  • Car-parking for 536 cars, including 33 disabled spaces

  • Landscaping/parking improvements surrounding Millmead, Middleford and Hayleigh House

  • Comprehensive package of community benefits, and the front of Symes House will be altered to complement the new superstore and community building.

The scheme is also an example of best practice in terms of sustainable development and will be one of the first retail developments nationally to meet a 'Very Good' standard under the BREEAM Retail Assessment Scheme.
